Wolves receive huge fitness boost ahead of Arsenal clash

Wolves have received a huge boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

The Midlands club had to go without key defender Conor Coady for their draw with Southampton last time out after the centre-back tested positive for coronavirus while on international duty with England.

Wolves fans have been sweating on Coady's availability ahead of their side's clash with Arsenal this weekend but it has now been confirmed the defender - who had started all of his side's first eight league games - is fit and ready after clearing the relevant protocols.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo confirmed in his pre-match press conference, which was reported by the Birmingham Mail: "Yes, Conor will start the next training session with us.

“He spent so many days in self-isolation, after he made two tests negative, Conor already had the virus, so protocols make it very hard for all the teams.

“So Conor yes.”

Santo also spoke about his side's draw with Southampton, who themselves have attracted plenty of plaudits for their start to the season.

“I think it was a good game,” he added. “Very intense game, high tempo, both teams, a very good game of football.

“Southampton is a good team, my first thought is we finished the game very strong.

"On the front foot, creating, pressing, creating huge problems for Southampton, good chances.”

Arsenal welcome Wolves to the Emirates Stadium looking to improve on an under-par start to the Premier League season, currently in 12th on 13 points.

Wolves have done slightly better, two places and one point better off but the Gunners will have the opportunity to leapfrog their Midlands counterparts with a win this weekend.
