Wolves ready to smash transfer record with swoop for Marseille star Morgan Sanson

Wolves are ready to smash their transfer record by bringing Marseille's Morgan Sanson to Molineux this summer, according to reports in France.

The Premier League club confirmed the permanent signing of Mexico striker Raul Jimenez from Benfica for a club-record fee of £30 million at the start of April.

And Nuno Espirito Santo already seems to have identified his next target as he starts to prepare his team for next season after a fantastic Premier League campaign.

French publication Le 10 Sport reports that Wolves are prepared to pay Marseille £36.5m in an attempt to land the French midfielder, who is considered one of the Ligue 1 side's prized players.

The 24-year-old is currently due to stay at the Orange Velodrome until 2022 after penning a contract extension in December.

The former France under-21 international has made 78 appearances for the club since joining from Ligue 1 rivals Montpellier in 2017, scoring 14 times.

He's played 32 times so far this campaign across all competitions, finding the net four times, with Marseille fifth in the table.

Wolves have enjoyed a fantastic season since returning to the top flight and Nuno's side currently sit eighth in Premier League table.

The promoted club also made a trip to Wembley as they reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup, beating Liverpool and Manchester United in the process.

However, their chances of booking a final showdown with Manchester City were ended by Watford and a Gerard Deulofeu brace.

Wolves were two goals up with 12 minutes left and on course to book their first FA Cup final appearance since 1960 before being beaten 3-2 after extra-time.
