Wolves news: Adama Traore misses Europa League game after forgetting his passport

Adama Traore missed WolvesEuropa League first leg in Armenia because he forgot his passport, manager Nuno Espirito Santo revealed after the match.

The Spanish winger arrived at the airport for the flight to the Armenian capital Yerevan with only an identity card, not realising he would need his passport, too.

Traore’s absence mattered little as Wolves defeated Pyunik 4-0 in the first leg of their third qualifying round match.

“He had a problem with his passport...he didn’t know. It’s impossible to travel with an ID card so he couldn’t travel with us. He’ll join us for the next game,” the manager told reporters.

Wolves host the return fixture on 15 August, and are now in with a strong chance of progressing through to the next round of the Europa League.

An early goal from Matt Doherty was followed by a brace from Raul Jimenez, while Ruben Neves added the fourth from the penalty spot in stoppage time.

Assuming they do progress, Wolves will move on to the play-off round, where they will likely meet Torino.

The Italian side beat Shakhtyor Soligorsk 5-0 on Thursday night. The winner of that tie will move into the Europa League proper.

Wolves begin their Premier League season against Leicester on Sunday.
