Wolves loanee reveals mum 'isn't too happy' with Swansea move, Cardiff want £1m for Birmingham target and Sheffield Wednesday in for Bluebirds-linked ace — Championship transfer round-up

Here are your Championship transfer headlines for Monday, August 31.

Swansea City loan signing opens up on move

Swansea City's new loan signing Morgan Gibbs-White has joked that his mother 'isn't too happy' with his switch to the Liberty Stadium as he has had to move away from home.

Gibbs-White has widely been hailed as a shrewd acquisition by the Swans in this window and the midfielder says he hopes to add creativity on the pitch when the campaign gets underway.

However, it'll be a steep learning curve off the pitch for the 20-year-old, who says he needs to brush up on his skills in the kitchen during his first stint away from the Midlands.

"I hope I can bring some diversity and versatility going forward, I like to create and I want to get as many assists as possible," he told the club's website.

"I want to help the boys off the pitch too, by being a good guy and good laugh around the changing room.

"I hope I can develop all round as a player and person, I don’t think my Mum is too happy with me moving away from home, but I have to stand on my own two feet and get better on and off the pitch.

"I just hope I don’t burn my apartment down as I’m not much of a cook!"

Cardiff City want £1m for Etheridge

Birmingham City are still in the race to sign Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge but the Bluebirds are reportedly after a £1m transfer fee.

WalesOnline understands that Blues have made contact with the Bluebirds over potentially signing the goalkeeper, however there was some work to be done over meeting the asking price.

According to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, that price is believed to be around £1m and Birmingham are still mulling over meeting City's demands.

He reports Birmingham's interest in Charlton keeper Dillon Phillips has cooled owing to the transfer fee also being around the £1m mark, but believes Cardiff's desired fee for the player will be similar.

Etheridge is keen to re-establish himself as a No.1 and will find it difficult to get past Alex Smithies, who came second in the club's Player of the Season vote last season.

Owls lead Windass chase

Sheffield Wednesday are leading the race to re-sign Wigan Athletic midfielder Josh Windass.

According to Wigan Today , the former Rangers star, who was heavily linked with the Bluebirds back in January, is on his way out of the DW Stadium this summer following the Latics’ relegation.

And it seems Wednesday are favourites, keen to get the deal over the line before this weekend’s EFL Cup clash with Walsall.

Windass spent the back-end of last season on loan with the Owls, making nine league appearances.

Cardiff are keen to add another playmaker to their ranks this summer and it was thought WIndass might be an option they might explore again. However, it looks as though the player is destined for elsewhere.

Meite eyed by Sheffield United

Reading face the prospect of losing star striker Yakou Meite this summer.

According to Football Insider, the 24-year-old is attracting interest from Sheffield United.

Meite caught the eye last season, scoring 17 times for a Reading side that finished below mid-table.

The report claims a source linked to the Blades has revealed a move is in the offing for Meite who has two years remaining on his contract at the Madejski Stadium.

The versatile striker has been with Reading since 2016 when he joined from PSG’s youth ranks.

Palace look to Osayi-Samuel

Crystal Palace are considering a move for Queens Park Rangers winger Bright Osayi-Samuel.

According to the Daily Mail , Palace are looking to add to the capture of Eberechi Eze from QPR by snapping up talented winger Osayi-Samuel.

The 22-year-old almost joined Club Brugge this summer when QPR accepted an offer just shy of £5m, but he opted against a move to Belgium.

A Premier League switch to join teammate Eze might just prove more attractive.
