Tottenham enjoyed a productive summer transfer window.
New transfer chief Fabio Paratici was able to complete five signings as Italian goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, tough-tackling defender Cristian Romero, diminutive playmaker Bryan Gil, young winger Pape Sarr and Brazilian right-back Emerson Royal all joined the Nuno Espirito Santo revolution.
Perhaps Spurs' biggest success story of the summer was keeping hold of star striker Harry Kane, who decided to stay in N17 despite considerable interest from Pep Guardiola's Manchester City over the last few months.
However, the north Londoners weren't able to do all the transfer business that they wanted to, failing to capture Wolves winger Adama Traore despite a reported £30million bid on deadline day.
Now, as first revealed by our sister title Birmingham Live, the Midlands club are planning to revisit Traore’s contract situation given the transfer window has now closed.
The quick winger has less than two years remaining on his current deal at Molineux and he has repeatedly declined the opportunity to extend it over the last year, despite Wolves head coach Bruno Lage's claims that he is happy at the club.
“I see a player happy every day and working hard,” Lage said a fortnight ago.
“The way he’s playing with us, I think he’s happy - and I’m very happy with him.”
It has been widely reported that Traore would like to play European football, having been heavily involved in Wolves' Europa League campaign during the 2019/20 season and Spurs will hope to reclaim a spot in the top four this term to end a two-year Champions League hiatus.
As such, the chances of the 25-year-old renewing his deal with Lage's side would appear slim at present and the Lilywhites will hope Wolves' reported £50million asking price will dramatically drop in the coming months if they are to return with another bid in January.
