Wolves' new striker Willian Jose has already set his sights on climbing the Premier League despite facing a likely wait for his debut.
Wolves announced on Saturday they have snapped up experienced Brazilian Jose on loan from Real Sociedad with a view to a permanent £22million deal.
The forward, 29, is yet to land in England as he waits for a work permit and international clearance.
But he is anxious to make up for lost time when he eventually pulls on a Wolves shirt competitively.
Jose said: "I think this season we have to finish well, because we are 14th in the table.
"I hope that we are at least in the top eight so that next season, we can start from scratch and make a great season.
"It won't be easy, but I'll be prepared, with a lot of hard work and a lot of focus, to face this new challenge.”
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo badly needs the frontman after just one win in nine Premier League games since star striker Raul Jimenez fractured his skull.
Nuno has recalled frontman Patrick Cutrone from his loan at Fiorentina but the Italian is yet to score in four appearances – including at Non League Chorley on Friday night in the FA Cup.
Wolves return to Premier League action on Wednesday night at Chelsea before visiting Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Jose has been with Sociedad since 2016 and scored 62 times in 170 appearances for the La Liga outfit.
He got both of their goals in a 2-0 Copa Del Rey win at Cordoba last Wednesday and now has six goals this term.
Wolves previously considered but ruled out big money bids this month for Liverpool's Divock Origi and Chelsea's Olivier Giroud.
They are desperate for more firepower with Daniel Podence also currently sidelined with injury while there is no timescale for Jimenez's return following his horror injury at Arsenal in November.
Jose added: "I'm very willing, very focused, to be with my companions and to make a very good second half of the Premier League season.
“Raul is a player who has been making history for the club.
"In the last few years, he has been scoring many goals. I've followed a few games.
"He is an important player for the club. Now he's having a hard time with his injury, but I hope to do the same, to bring joy to the fans and the whole club.”
