Wolves enter Salomon Rondon transfer talks and eye surprise Joe Allen switch

Wolves are talking to West Brom striker Salomon Rondon about a switch to Molineux.

Nuno Espirito Santo has thrown his club's hat into the ring to land the Venezuelan striker after the Baggies failed to reach the Premier League.

Several clubs – including West Ham and Everton – are also in the hunt for a hit-man who scored 11 Premier League goals on loan at Newcastle United last term.

Rafa Benitez would be keen to re-sign the forward whose work-rate was appreciated hugely by the Toon Army.

But the fact he is 29 years old has counted against triggering the £16.5million buy-out clause in his Hawthorns deal, as the Tynesiders' hierarchy are not keen on paying cash for players with little sell-on value.

However, Wolves would have no problem meeting that figure as they seek for back-up to last season's leading scorer Raul Jimenez.

Although Santo's side finished seventh, they were remarkably fortunate with their injury list, reaching the FA Cup semi-finals as well without too many long-term casualties.

Mindful of this, the club will embark on significant team re-building this summer.

As previously reported, AC Milan's Andre Silva and Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson is another on the wanted list.

Interestingly, Wolves' director of football Kevin Thelwell has been a regular visitor to Stoke City this season.

One player who might have caught his eye is midfielder Joe Allen.

The Wales international is likely to be off-loaded from the bet365 Stadium as Nathan Jones looks to re-shape his squad with keeper Jack Butland high on Bournemouth's wanted list.
