Wolves confirm injury blow ahead of Manchester United FA Cup fixture

Wolves have confirmed Diogo Jota will miss their FA Cup fixture against Manchester United through injury.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side travel to Molineux on Saturday night in the third round of the FA Cup looking to bounce back from their midweek defeat at Arsenal.

Wolves are unbeaten in their last four matches against United under Nuno Espirito Santo but will go in search of a fifth without the help of their Portuguese forward.

The 23-year-old has scored nine goals in 31 appearances this season but is set to miss the match following an injury he suffered in defeat to Watford on New Year's Day.

“It’s not good," the Wolves manager said.

“Unfortunately Diogo is also not available. The red card from (Christian) Kabasele, had no intention (to hurt Jota) at all, but there was a strong impact. He’s not available.

“He’s already been for the MRI (scan) but it’s not good.”

Wolves will also be without Willy Boly and Morgan Gibbs-White due to injury. Boly is recovering well from a fractured fibula, while Gibbs-White is struggling with a back problem.

United will themselves be without at least six players for the match with Paul Pogba , Scott McTominay, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Axel Tuanzebe and Marcos Rojo unavailable.

Other United players will sit out their final training session on Friday due to illness and Solskjaer will not decide on his squad until the morning of the game.
