Wolves captain Conor Coady says "ridiculous" VAR "doesn't feel right" after Liverpool loss

Wolves skipper Conor Coady hit out at the officials after their controversial 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

The visitors went down to a Sadio Mane strike shortly before half-time, with the goal only awarded following a VAR check on a possible handball against Adam Lallana.

It was detected that the ball struck Lallana's shoulder and so referee Anthony Taylor was wrong to disallow the goal, however Wolves also suggested that Virgil van Dijk handled the ball before he played the long pass forward to Lallana before the goal.

If the VAR did check this then presumably they decided no offence took place, with Wolves' misery then further compounded when they saw Pedro Neto have a goal chalked off due to a marginal offside decision checked by VAR.

"We feel massively hard done by. I can't get my head around it. It is ridiculous," a fuming Coady told Sky Sports after the match.

"For me it is not working. Some people are saying it gets the right decision but we're the players on the pitch and it doesn't feel right to me.

"Anthony Taylor is a great fella to speak to but I ask a question and I don't get an answer.

"We thought Van Dijk handballed it, but the referee tells me Van Dijk is too far away. He played the pass.

"VAR is affecting the game, you can hear the fans singing about it. No-one has asked us about it.

"It is still confusing, I can't get my head around it, you don't get answers on the pitch."

The Reds held on to secure a 1-0 victory as they went 13 points clear at the top of the table.
