Arsenal's Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Wolves captain Conor Coady called into England squad

Arsenal's Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Wolves captain Conor Coady have been drafted into the England squad for the Nations League double header in Scandinavia.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate has handed Coady his first senior call-up to replace Harry Maguire following the £80million centre-back's holiday hell.

And Maitland-Niles is also included for the games against Iceland and Denmark after a man-of-the-match performance for the Gunners in the Community Shield victory over Liverpool at Wembley.

The 23-year-old scored from the spot in his club's penalty shoot-out win over the champions.

He is now in line to win his first senior cap despite being linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer.

Both Wolves and Tottenham want the London-born full-back.

Coady, 27, is also included for the first time.

Southgate hinted that the Liverpool-born centre-back would struggle to break into the England senior team unless he decided to employ a three-man defence.

But he comes in after Maguire was found guilty of assault and attempted bribery by a Greek court last week.

Maguire has been granted an appeal against the conviction.

But Southgate felt the United skipper should be left out of his squad after initially including him in his selection.

Coady has won international honours at junior level and helped England win the Under-17 European championships in 2010.

He began his career with Liverpool, but made just one Premier League appearance at Anfield before sealing a £2million switch to Molineux in 2015.

Coady has been outstanding for Wolves, helping the midlands club secure promotion from the Championship and playing a key role in Europa League qualification last year.
