Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo to manage final game against Manchester United

Wolves have announced that this weekend's Premier League match against Manchester United will be their final game under manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Portuguese boss will wave goodbye to the Molineux crowd at the end of his fourth season with the club, where he has overseen a significant rise.

Guiding Wolves back to the Premier League, Nuno then secured back-to-back seventh-placed finishes with the club in the top-flight and guided the team to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

That was Wolves' most successful venture in continental football for half a century and he will leave as the club's fifth longest-serving manager in the post-war era.

His spell at the club will come to a close on Sunday, the final game of the Premier League weekend, where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's United are the opponents.

“Since the first day we arrived at Compton, our ambition was to make a positive change and push this football club forward, and I am proud to say that we did that every single day. We achieved our goals, we did it with passion and we did it together," Nuno told the club website.

“Firstly, I want to thank the supporters, who have all played such an important part in helping us reach new heights for Wolves, and the people of the city, who embraced us and made us feel at home. I, of course, want to thank all of the staff at Wolves, for their support and total commitment, every single day.

“Most importantly, I want to thank each-and-every player that we’ve worked with since the day we started, for their loyalty, their dedication, hard work and talent. They are the ones who have made this amazing journey possible for us. Sunday will be a very emotional day, but I am so happy that the fans will be back in Molineux and we can share one last special moment together, as one pack.”

Nuno's departure comes amid a wealth of speculation that he could take charge of Tottenham, who are seeking a permanent successor to Jose Mourinho.

Ryan Mason's appointment in north London was merely on a temporary basis and Nuno is now regarded to be amongst the favourites to take the reins.
