Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo speaks out on Liverpool and 'amazing' title race with Manchester City

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo saluted Manchester City's achievement in holding off Liverpool's dogged refusal to buckle in an "amazing" title race.

The Wolves manager saw his side Jurgen Klopp's defiant Liverpool are only going in one direction - and Pep Guardiola's Man City know it in the final day of the Premier League season, but with his own side's seventh place finish already secure Liverpool's remarkable 97 points haul was only enough to finish second.

Wolves finished a mammoth 40 points behind the Reds and Santo said: "It is amazing, This title race between City and Liverpool was amazing.

"The world was on these two games today and how they did it was fantastic. The jobs of both managers was amazing.

"Everyone involved has to congratulate City, They deserve to be champions and Liverpool still have the final of the Champions League.

"We are very proud of what we achieve in the PL and especially proud because of how we do it and belief of the boys is what makes this possible. What we achieve is thanks to hard work but we want to go again."

Former Reds youngster Connor Coady led Wolves at Anfield and his manager reserved special words of tribute for the 26-year-old.

"He, as a captain, has shown his example," he said.

"It is fantastic to have a player available for all the games, all the training sessions.. 

"It has been a fantastic season. The bond that the players and staff have with the fans is fantastic.

"Together we are stronger. They come and appreciate. Tomorrow we start again."
