Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo makes Diogo Jota transfer admission following Liverpool move

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted the time was right for Diogo Jota to leave Molineux this summer.

The Portugal international joined Liverpool in a £41m deal and has enjoyed a sensational start to life at Anfield, scoring nine goals from just 17 appearances.

Jota is currently sidelined for at least six weeks with a knee injury but Santo has praised the forward, revealing he is not surprised by the impact he had made on Merseyside prior to his stint on the treatment table.

"No, (I'm) not surprised at all," the Wolves boss told Stadium Astro. “The quality and the talent and the dedication that Diogo has is amazing.

“I’m pleased Diogo is having an impact on Liverpool. I think he is in the right place at the right moment of his career so I wish him all the best.

"At the same time we thank him for all the good things he made for Wolves."
