Wolves boss makes transfer admission after links with Liverpool striker Divock Origi

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted Wolves are "getting ready" to sign a striker in the January transfer window amid links to Divock Origi.

The Reds striker has been linked with a move away from Anfield after seeing his first-team minutes reduced by the arrival of Diogo Jota.

Origi used to be first in reserve for Jurgen Klopp if any of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino were unavailable but Jota has leapfrogged him in the pecking order.

Takumi Minamino also appears to have cut down Origi's minutes after starting against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Origi has not started a Premier League game this season and has been limited to only two substitute appearance equating seven minutes.

As a result, it's little surprise to see him linked with a move for Wolves, who are in the market for a striker after Raul Jimenez fractured his skull against Arsenal.

According to fresh claims from The Athletic, the Reds will listen to offers for the Belgian international when the transfer window re-opens in the New Year.

"Raul's doing what he has to do," Santo said during his latest press conference.

"Relax, recover his health, then comes the physical improvement, fitness levels. But we have to be patient...that will take time.

"The window is coming and we are getting ready."

Origi admitted that he is hoping for more first-team football in the near future.

"We have spoken with Liverpool and we have a nice course ahead of us," he told Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws.

"I just want to get better here.

"It is a project for me and I want to follow it. I don’t know how long I will do that. I feel that I am making progress, so it was a pity that the season stopped."
