Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo says Liverpool-bound Diogo Jota is "going to the right place".
Jota is set to join the Reds in a deal that could be worth up to £45million.
The Portuguese forward has agreed a five-year contract at Anfield after an impressive spell at Molineux.
Nuno was staying tight-lipped about the 23-year-old's absence from the squad in Wolves' Carabao Cup tie at Stoke City on Thursday.
But he has now broken his silence on the issue to confirm Jota's impending departure to Liverpool.
"First I want to apologise for Thursday - sometimes you have to keep things private," he told reporters.
"Diogo is amazing. What he did for us for three years was absolutely fantastic.
"Things happen when things should naturally happen. He is going to the right place."
Jota scored 44 goals in 133 appearances for Wolves after joining from Atletico Madrid in 2017.
His initial loan was made permanent in a £12million deal the following summer.
The transfer to Liverpool will be a club record sale for Wolves.
