Wolves 'agree deal' to bring in Vitor Pereira as new manager

Wolverhampton Wanderers have finalised arrangements for Vitor Pereira to take over as their new manager after Gary O'Neil's dismissal, according to reports on Tuesday.

Sources at the BBC report that the Premier League side will make a payment of approximately one million euros ($1 million) to secure the Al-Shabab manager's release from the Saudi Pro League outfit.

Sky reports indicate that contractual details have been settled, with the 56-year-old set to receive a contract spanning 18 months.

The Portuguese manager is reportedly travelling to England on Tuesday, with an official announcement anticipated within the next day.

The experienced manager nearly secured the Everton position in 2022 when the club sought to replace Rafael Benitez.

His managerial achievements include clinching two Primeira Liga championships with Porto and securing the Greek Super League title whilst at Olympiakos.

Wolves' next fixture sees them visit Leicester, who sit five points behind them in the league standings.

O'Neil's tenure ended following Saturday's loss, their fourth consecutive defeat, which left the club in 19th position with nine points after 16 Premier League matches.

His appointment came in August 2023 after Julen Lopetegui's exit, and he had signed a fresh four-year agreement with the club that same month.
