Wolves 1 Fulham 0: Leander Dendoncker strike puts hosts in box seat for seventh place

Fulham's three-game winning run has come to an end after Wolves continued their push for a European spot with a 1-0 victory at Molineux.

Leander Dendoncker's volley with quarter of an hour remaining was enough to hand Nuno Espirito Santo's men the chance to move one step closer to a seventh-place finish as the Cottagers finished the season with just one away win.

The hosts came out of the blocks quickly and Diogo Jota, who had scored in his last two Premier League matches, was looking the mostly likely to break the deadlock.

The Portuguese could have had a penalty when he appeared to have been tripped by Cyrus Christie but referee Jonathan Moss saw it differently, and booked the 22-year-old for simulation.

Wolves continued to dominate possession and push Fulham back into their own area, but it was from a set piece where they nearly took the lead.

Joao Moutinho delivered the corner from the left and Leander Dendoncker's bullet header came crashing back off the crossbar.

Things livened up after the break and Jota went close to opening the scoring, flashing a low drive just past the far post.

Despite being on the back foot for much of the game, Fulham could have gone ahead just after the hour. After some good work from Ryan Sessegnon, the youngster squared it to Aleksandar Mitrovic and the Serbian skied his effort after the bar.

That proved to be crucial as Wolves finally broke the visitors' resistance. Moutinho slid in Doherty down the right and his cutback was met by Dendoncker, who expertly volleyed into the corner.

Jota nearly got a deserved goal with a thunderous strike that was so fast, Sergio Rico didn't even see it, but the youngster was unfortunate to see his effort cannon back off the crossbar.

There was time for Fulham to make their mark, as teenager Harvey Elliott came off the bench to become the Premier League's youngest-ever player aged 16 years and 30 days, but the afternoon belonged to Wolves, who are almost guaranteed to finish seventh in their first season back in the top flight.
