Tottenham have moved to within three points of fourth place Chelsea after Jan Vertonghen secured a late winner for his side at Wolves.
A wonderful strike from Adama Traore ruled out Lucas Moura’s effort in the second-half of a contest where Wolves had their chances to take the win themselves.
But a superb header from the Belgium international sealed the win for Jose Mourinho's side in the first minute of injury time.
Tottenham’s opener came just eight minutes into the contest with Moura producing his moment of magic, racing into the box before finding a gap in between two defenders and lashing into the roof of the net.
Eric Dier passed up the opportunity to double his side’s lead before the break, combining with Dele Alli who brilliantly found his teammate with a dinked through ball, only to be denied by the woodwork.
Even before that chance, Wolves were knocking on the door with Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota testing Paulo Gazzaniga either side of the break.
The breakthrough, when it did come, was remarkable. Traore, picked out on the edge of the box by Jimenez, was invited to shoot with Vertonghen standing off. Even so, his effort was sublime, shooting across goal with a vicious effort that nestled in the far corner.
Wolves had their chances to take all three points but were made pay with Veronghen grabbing the winner.
Introduced from the bench with just five minutes left, Christian Eriksen produced the corner that the Belgian defender read perfectly, guiding a precise header through a crowd of players and into the far corner.
Spurs end the weekend three points behind Chelsea with the two rivals meeting next Sunday.
