Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Newcastle United: Lee Ryder's Premier League preview

Newcastle United picked up a respectable point in this fixture in January and it has to be said some fans would accept the same outcome this time around.

The Magpies collapsed in the closing stages against Man United on Saturday night at St James' Park and are again under a bit of pressure.

Defeat at Molineux would crank that pressure up even more on United but they are capable of getting something from this one if they put their mind to it.

The usual soundbites from the dressing room have emerged this week with Jamaal Lascelles vowing to put things right.

But the proof will be in the pudding in front of a live TV audience on Sunday night.

Lee Ryder's prediction

One feature that has recurred during Steve Bruce's stint in charge is that Newcastle usually respond to a heavy defeat.

That was the case last term on a few occasions and even this term United bounced back after the 3-0 loss to Brighton with a decent string of results with a point at Spurs (albeit a fortunate one) and a win over Burnley coupled with cup progress to the quarter-finals.

It will take a big improvement though after the defensive capitulation against Man United though.

That said, Wolves have had mixed form themselves this season with three losses and three wins so far in all competitions.

Something says to me Newcastle might end up emerging with a battling draw out of this one.

Referee

Lee Mason (Bolton)

The 48-year-old took charge of four Toon games last season, all of which ended in defeat.

Charity bet

Callum Wilson to be an anytime scorer at 21/10
