Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves has extended his contract with the club, committing himself to Molineux until 2023.
Signed for a club-record £15.8m from Porto last summer, the 21-year-old was instrumental in Wolves’s promotion to the Premier League and was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.
Neves, who scored six goals last season, has been linked with a move away from Molineux this summer but will now start the new campaign under at Wolves under Nuno Espirito Santo.
“Ruben is thoroughly deserving of his new deal,” sporting director Kevin Thelwell told the club’s official website. “He has been an absolutely outstanding addition to the squad since his arrival last summer.
“It is no secret that there has been interest from other clubs, but Ruben is very mature for his age, incredibly level-headed, and loves being a part of the Wolves family.
“Ruben has taken everything in his stride since joining us, and I am positive he will continue his form into next season and have a huge impact on the Premier League.”
Wolves, who were relegated from the Premier League in 2012, begin their campaign at home to Everton next month.
