Wollaton Park rescue mission sparked as woman found stuck 'up to her waist in mud'

A fire service rescue mission was sparked when a woman became 'marooned up to her waist in mud' at Wollaton Park.

Firefighters from Stapleford Fire Station were called out on Wednesday afternoon, February 17, to assist park rangers.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "Using floating lines we carefully rescued her from the mud with the support of the park's rangers.

"She was not injured but clearly distressed."

A large crowd of people gathered were taking photos and firefighters asked for these not to be shared on social media.

The fire service spokesman added: "Our specialist rescue team from Highfields and East Midlands Ambulance service also attended the scene."

It comes after three teenagers, who became trapped in a quarry in Mansfield Woodhouse, were rescued from quicksand earlier this month.
