Woj: Kawhi Leonard’s July choice likely down to Raptors or Clippers

Lakers fans and probably LeBron James himself have likely found themselves daydreaming about Kawhi Leonard over the past few weeks, with the soon-to-be free agent reminding everyone how dominant he can be during the NBA playoffs.

LeBron spent a lot of time with Leonard at All-Star Weekend in Charlotte, but once again the whispers around the league aren’t putting them together. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, appearing on their Get Up! morning show, that Leonard’s summer choices will likely come down to the incumbent Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Clippers.

So far in the playoffs, Leonard is averaging 32.3 points on 58.7% shooting from the field and 50% on 3-pointers over nine games. Many have wondered about Leonard and the Lakers due to Leonard’s reported affinity for Southern California.

Last summer, Leonard was reportedly set on being a Laker but that notion softened after LeBron James signed on. But for his part, it looks like James has made an effort to build some bridges with arguably the top free agent in this summer’s class.

With less than two months to go until free agency, all signs suggest that LeBron’s efforts may not be enough. But only time will tell if that’s how the story ends.
