Woj confirms Celtics were one of several teams after Jrue Holiday

For fans of the Boston Celtics who wanted to see New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday — recently traded to the Milwaukee Bucks — in green and white, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Massachusetts franchise had been trying to secure the veteran’s services.

Speaking on the “ESPN Daily Pod” Tuesday, Wojnarowski revealed that the Celtics had an iron in that particular fire, along with a Western Conference club and possibly several other franchises.

“If Jrue Holiday had gone somewhere else, Boston had been talking to them,” related the ESPN analyst. “Denver — there’s a lot of interest in Holiday.”

As there should be given the former Pelican is among the biggest names available for teams like the Nuggets, Bucks and Celtics looking to bolster their playoff odds.

While Boston (perhaps wisely, given the reported price tag) missed out on Holiday, expect plans for the team to begin to crystalize once we know what veteran Celtics forward Gordon Hayward plans to do regarding his contract option date, due this afternoon at 5pm ET.
