Top Australian basketball prospect Shyla Heal has been jettisoned by her WNBA team after just two weeks.

The Chicago Sky traded Heal to the Dallas Wings with additional draft assets in exchange for another point guard, Dana Evans.

Heal was then waived by Dallas.

Heal's father, former Boomers guard Shane Heal, posted on social media saying it was a "tough break" after two practice sessions.

"The team lost five straight home games so they cut two first-round picks," he said.

"Great experience that will make her even tougher.

Evans, the player Heal was traded for, is three years older than Heal but was drafted five spots later in April, at position 13.

Heal has struggled in limited minutes across four matches with the Sky, averaging two points and 0.8 assists but also 2.5 turnovers.

She missed training camp and only joined the team two weeks ago.

Heal averaged 16.7 points and 3.4 assists per game for Townsville in the WNBL last season.

She has signed for the Sydney Uni Flames for the coming WNBL season.
