WNBA player props: Take the over on Alyssa Thomas’ points, after finding her touch in Game 4

On Thursday night, we’ll learn which lucky team will earn a chance to face the Las Vegas Aces in the 2022 WNBA Finals.

Will it be the defending champion Chicago Sky, who will have the advantage of utilizing a raucous home crowd behind them? Or can the Connecticut Sun, fresh off of a dominant 24-point Game 4 win, ride momentum into Game 5 and make it back to the Finals for the first time since 2019?

We won’t know the outcome for another few hours, so we’ll play a guessing game until then.

How about we make bets on and predict which players will help decide the final outcome? Here’s a look at some player props.

All odds via Tipico.

Jonquel Jones - Under 8.5 Rebounds (-128)

Jonquel Jones has had a solid series against the Sky. Her efficiency has been mostly there and her production has too when she’s been on the court. However, she hasn’t been on the court as much as you’d expect a former MVP to be. The shorter minutes are a result of a few things — foul trouble, Brionna Jones’ strong play and even head coach Curt Miller simply deciding to keep Jonquel on the bench down the stretch.

As a result, I can’t trust that she’ll play enough minutes to make good on her 8.5-rebound prop in Game 5. The Under sounds safer.

Courtney Vandersloot - Over 5.5 Assists (-138)

Courtney Vandersloot’s been up and down with her assists throughout this postseason. She’s mostly rotated between high and low assist totals every other game with 10 being her high and two being her lowest output.

Still, it’s Courtney Vandersloot. She’s a magician who loves the center stage. The lights will be bright tonight and she’ll deliver more than 5.5 assists. Count on it.

Alyssa Thomas - Over 13.5 Points (-114)

(Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports)

Based on how poorly Alyssa Thomas had shot in Games 1 through 3, I figured in Game 4 she’d find her touch.

She did. In Game 4 she shot 6/9 from the field en route to 17 points in 24 minutes of gameplay.

Thomas will continue to be aggressive on both ends of the floor, and in a much closer game than the previous, she’ll get up enough shots to score more than 13.5 points in this all-important “win or go home” contest.
