What’s Going To Happen
First one to ten wins?
That’s not quite fair to a Marshall team that got the offense cranked up in wins over Old Dominion and Florida Atlantic to get right back into the Conference USA race after dropping the date with Middle Tennessee. Beat WKU, and then the Thundering Herd would have the inside track to getting to the title game.
The ground attack is the best in the league, the pass rush has been fantastic, and the defense overall has been able to rise up and be a force in key spots over the last few weeks.
But the Hilltoppers are dominating defensively. They’re second in the league behind UAB, they’re great at getting off the field, and they haven’t allowed more than two touchdowns in the last month.
At 4-0 in the conference, win this week, beat FAU next week, and they’ll have a lock on being the East champs.
The WKU run defense is strong enough to hold down the Marshall ground attack, and the offense manages to do a better job of controlling the game and the clock than anyone in the league outside of UAB. It’ll be a defensive battle with the WKU D doing just enough to hold on in drive after drive to survive.
