Wizz Air 'hijack': Passenger tackled by crew as he tried to storm cockpit

A potential hijacker was tackled by the crew as he tried to storm the cockpit of a Wizz Air plane.

The "out of control" passenger caused the plane to make an emergency landing to bring an end to the chaos on board.

The flight was enroute from Hungary to Iceland when the intoxicated man left his seat and walked up the aisle towards the cockpit.

The man in his 60s was arrested by Norwegian police at Stavanger airport at 9am yesterday.

Sør-Vest police wrote on Twitter : "We are moving out to Stavanger airport after reporting a person who has disembarked on a plane.

"There is control of the person on board.

"The plane has not landed yet, and we are on our way out to take care of the situation as soon as the plane is on the ground.

"The course of events is unclear."

The police later added: 'The plane has landed. We have taken out a male passenger in his 60s.

"No one has been harmed. We are working to clarify what has happened."
