WASHINGTON _ If the Bulls were going to snap the Wizards' nine-game home win streak, it was going to take a short-handed effort of maximum proportion.
They got one. But it still wasn't enough.
John Wall's jumper over Robin Lopez with 5 seconds left pushed the Wizards to a comeback 101-99 victory over a scrappy Bulls team that played without Jimmy Butler, Dwyane Wade and Nikola Mirotic.
Doug McDermott, who shot 2-for-11, missed a 3-pointer on the Bulls' final possession.
Rajon Rondo got dusted off and finished with 12 points, six assists and three steals as sixth man. Denzel Valentine returned after missing three games with a sprained left ankle to score a season-high 19 points on 5-for-11 shooting from 3-point range.
Rondo returned after not playing by coach's decision in five straight games because Mirotic joined Butler as sick with a bad illness.
Butler isn't here and coach Fred Hoiberg said there's no guarantee he'd play on Thursday in New York against the Knicks either. Wade had a scheduled rest day.
