Witness appeal after man left in critical condition following Ryton car crash

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after a car hit a brick wall in Gateshead.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a "serious collision" in the Ryton area.

Shortly before 10.30pm on Friday August 7, police received a report of a single car carsh near the Oval, in Ryton.

Officers found a blue Subaru Impreza with damage from what "appeared to be a collision with a brick wall" on B6315 Woodside Lane, just a short distance from the junction with B6317 Main Road in Ryton.

The crash left a 28-year-old man in hospital.

Police said almost one week on he remains in a critical condition.

On Thursday investigating officers issued an appeal to the public for any witnesses or those with information or footage to come forward.

Anyone who can help, including anyone with dashcam footage, is urged to contact police on 101.
