'Without a doubt!' - Why Leeds United are tipped to eventually complete Erling Haaland transfer

Leeds United have been tipped to one day sign Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, who has lit up the Bundesliga since his move from Red Bull Salzburg last summer.

The striker, of course, was born in Leeds and is the son of Alf-Inge Haaland, who featured for the Whites from 1997 to 2000 during the club's heyday in the Premier League.

Even with their top-tier status at the moment, there is little to no chance of the forward making the switch to Elland Road when he does eventually leave Germany for pastures new. But former Leeds' goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes there will be a moment late in the 20-year-old's career for the West Yorkshire club to pounce.

"One day, we will see Erling Haaland in the Premier League, without a shadow of a doubt," he told Football Insider. "I would love it to be at Leeds, where he grew up watching his dad play. I think Dortmund was a stepping stone before a move to the Premier League.

"He would make himself fit into Liverpool’s starting eleven. A player of his quality and his ability starts wherever he goes but there will be a number of suitors for him.

“Whether it be Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool or any other top six club in the Premier League. If Dortmund were to sell him there would see quite a few takers.”

In the meantime, a number of clubs including Liverpool have been linked with signing Haaland from Dortmund in the coming years. Red Bull Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund, for instance, has already predicted that the Norwegian will move to Liverpool eventually.

“That's where he will land,” Freund explained when it was suggested he would join Liverpool. “He can play for any club in the world. With his mentality, his will, with his self-confidence he can make a mark on European football in the next ten years.”
