Michael Maguire has a passion for the prestige of the World Club Challenge which is why he has reminded his Brisbane players of their chance to be remembered with "the greats" of the club.
The Broncos play Hull KR on February 20 (AEDT) northeast England, aiming to add to their 1992 and 1997 titles.
Brisbane coach Maguire understands the glory associated with winning the trophy. His South Sydney side blitzed St Helens 39-0 in 2015, which remains the biggest winning margin in World Club Challenge history.
Current Broncos captain Adam Reynolds, the only current Brisbane player to have previously won the fixture, was in that Rabbitohs side.
Maguire has also been on the losing end, when he was at the helm of Wigan in their 21-15 defeat to St George Illawarra in 2011.
"It will be an unbelievable experience because the crowd will be going crazy," Maguire told AAP when asked about the challenge ahead.
"I know from my time over there what it really means. It also means a lot to us.
"You have got to remember that the World Club Challenge has been won by Brisbane so to put ourselves up with the likes of those great players before us is something these guys have the opportunity to do.
"You can go into the history books by doing something many of our greats have done in the past."
The Broncos will fly to London to prepare on February 9, hours after hosting their season launch in Brisbane.
Initially they will stay at The Lensbury, a resort famous for hosting sporting sides such as the All Blacks and Kangaroos who have tasted success after making the most of their elite training facilities.
It is there there that they will hold a training session against the London Broncos, now co-owned by Brisbane legend Darren Lockyer who was a member of the 1997 World Club Challenge side.
"I think that is great from a rugby league point of view," Maguire said.
"One of our special players in Locky has now got the ownership ... to get them going.
"They need a bit of an injection, so it is good to be able to be there in London and train with those guys to prepare. That is the most important part for us."
Brisbane broke a 19-year NRL premiership drought last year and are just as determined to win the World Club Challenge for the first time in 29 years.
Maguire has the utmost respect for defending Super League champions Hull KR and has reinforced to his players that the Willie Peters-coached Robins cannot be taken lightly.
"In players' careers you have a moment in time when you get the opportunity to do something special," he said.
"When you do you are grateful for it. You have got to respect it as well. I have worked in the Super League and the game over there means a hell of a lot to the English as well so I know very well the mentality they will have.
"It is another opportunity for the Broncos to put another trophy in the cabinet. Winning is fun and that is something we have been able to enjoy this last little period and what we want to continue doing."
