After signing second-round draft picks Dalton Risner and Drew Lock, the Denver Broncos are down to $3,814,792 in remaining salary cap space, according to records from the NFL Players Association accessed Tuesday.
The roster is currently full with 90 players.
Lock’s four-year deal is worth $7,010,820, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. The quarterback’s 2019 salary cap hit will be approximately $1,274,694 (his $495,000 salary plus a prorated portion of his signing bonus).
Risner’s four-year deal is worth $7,141,282, per Klis. The offensive lineman’s cap hit this season will be approximately $1,298,597. Risner was taken one slot before Lock (No. 41 overall) in April’s draft.
Denver will likely want to save some of its salary cap space for once the regular season begins. If a player goes down and the team needs to sign a veteran with experience, the Broncos will need to have some cap space available.
If Denver does not use all of its cap this season, the remaining balance will roll over into 2020. Earlier this year, the Broncos carried over about $8 million worth of unused 2018 salary cap space for this season.
