Jachai Polite one step closer to giving his mother the gift of retirement

It was a special Mother’s Day day for the Polite family at One Jets Drive.

Jachai Polite signed his rookie contract and became a New York Jet on Sunday. As for his mother, Katrina Simmons, she hasn’t stopped crying since the day Polite got drafted by the Jets in the third round. She is the driving force behind her son’s determination to be a successful football player.

“I’m just trying to take care of her, do my job and be the best Jet I can be,” Polite said at the Jets’ rookie orientation.

Simmons is the mother of four children and works two jobs as a housekeeper and a hair stylist. She has kept her family going and made sure Polite has a good attitude and work ethic when it comes to football.

Now that Polite is in the NFL, he would like to make enough money for Simmons to retire. Polite even made his Twitter handle “@RetireMoms.” Clearly, he feels like it’s his turn to step up for his mother after everything she did for him.

With Polite having signed his rookie contract, he can start putting some money aside for his mother. If he can dominate on the field as a Jet, there could be a lot more money coming his and his mother’s way in the future.
