With playoff hopes lost, Seahawks will now ‘play for the pride of it’

The Seattle Seahawks lost another heartbreaker in Week 12, falling 17-15 to the Washington Football Team on the road. With a record of 3-8 on the year, hopes for a playoff appearance are all but lost.

Coach Pete Carroll, ever the optimist, was asked about potentially losing the locker room as players struggle to deal with defeat.

“That’s not going to happen, I don’t think,” Carroll said after the game. “I just don’t feel like that. I know these guys too well. I know their heart. They know my heart. We’ve been battling for a long time together, and we’ve got the leadership. There’s just no room for that to happen.

But despite being dead-last in the NFC West, the season must go on, there are many more games to be played. So what could possibly motivate the team going forward?

“We’re going to play for the pride of it,” Carroll stated emphatically. “We’re going to play for the people that we are and we’re going to represent. I don’t know how else to look at it but that way.”
