With no roster move, signs point to Cardinals RB David Johnson playing in Week 7

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson is officially questionable for the team’s Week 7 contest on the road against the New York Giants. He dealt with an ankle injury all week in practice that limited his reps.

However, with no roster move made to add a running back, all signs point to Johnson being in the lineup on Sunday.

As it stands, the Cardinals only have three running backs on the roster. D.J. Foster, who has played only on special teams this season, has been ruled out with a hamstring injury. That leaves only Johnson and Chase Edmonds.

If there were any doubt about Johnson’s availability, the Cardinals would have made a roster move. The most obvious move would have been to promote running back Justin Davis from the practice squad.

He wasn’t and the Cardinals did not add a running back, so it means Johnson will play.

The obvious fantasy football implications are that he will play and will start. What is not certain is whether or not Edmonds will see an increase in usage because of his effectiveness and because of Johnson’s ankle.

But, in any case, even though the answer has not officially been given, we know the answer. David Johnson will play against the Giants.
