With injuries mounting, Celtics recall center Tacko Fall from Maine Red Claws

Shortly before their Friday night matchup against the New York Knicks, the Boston Celtics recalled 7-foot-5 rookie center Tacko Fall from his assignment with the Maine Red Claws, according to ESPN.

Fall (signed to a two-way contract before the regular season began) has been with the Red Claws in Portland ever since the NBA G League began training camp on Oct. 28, with Maine’s regular season opener slated for Nov. 9 against the Delaware Blue Coats.

However, the Celtics will be without veteran center Enes Kanter on Friday night, along with second-year forward-center Robert Williams III, as the springy big man deals with a bout of hip bursitis. With Daniel Theis still feeling the effects of a sprained ankle, but available, rookie center Vincent Poirier has become the team’s only healthy center aside from Fall.
