With Dwayne Allen signing, Brian Flores’ Patriot influence grows

This just isn’t going to go away. With Brian Flores coming to Miami from that team up north, the speculation within this fanbase has murmured ever since. Just how much of a New England Patriots slant will Flores’ Dolphins have?

And with the first signing of the new regime, we now have our latest clue. Miami has signed tight end Dwayne Allen, formerly of…you guessed it, the New England Patriots.

Between the front office, coaching staff and now presumably the players, there’s quite a pipeline growing between the Patriots and “New England South”. There’s plenty of reason to believe this won’t be the last Patriots themed domino to fall for the Dolphins this off-season, either.

Should that worry Dolphins fans? The list of successful coaches to leave New England is short enough, never mind the list of those who have been so bold as to attempt to replicate the Patriot Way outside of Foxboro.

In short, yes. The more the Dolphins lean into the Patriots’ playbook, the more it should definitely cause some apprehension among the fanbase.

This is going to be difficult to pull off, given New England’s sustained success stems from an all-time great coach and an all-time great quarterback.

The rest of the off-season will provide more clarity on just how much of a Patriots slant Brian Flores’ Dolphins will adopt, but the early returns continue to point to Foxboro.
