With Centre revising target, 100% first Covid vaccination dose coverage done in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: Acknowledging the efforts of the UT administration, the central government has finally revised the target adult population for Covid vaccination (first dose). The ministry of health and family welfare has finalised the targeted population of Chandigarh in the age group of 18 years and above as 8,43,000.

The administration has already crossed the figure of 8,50,000 first dose of Covid vaccination for adult population and achieved the 100% target of first dose.

UT adviser Dharam Pal said that now with the revised data of targeted population, Chandigarh is among the selected states and union territories who have given at least one dose of vaccination to 100% targeted population.

Pal congratulated all the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers. He further stated that the administration will continue with its since efforts to deal with all Covid-related issues.

In July, the administration had written a letter to the government to make correction in the vaccination target population for eligible population. According to the Centre, Chandigarh’s eligible population above 18 years of age, which is to be covered for vaccination was 15.75 lakh (15,75,709). However, the UT administration had submitted that as per the latest electoral list, a total of 7,12,000 people in Chandigarh are eligible to take vaccine in the 18+ age group category and special groups.
