'With all the respect' - Jude Bellingham sent blunt Liverpool transfer message by Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic has responded to speculation linking Liverpool with a move for Jude Bellingham.

The Reds continue to be credited with an interest in signing the Dortmund midfielder. Speculation has been surrounding the future of the England international ever since he made the £25 million move to the Bundesliga club in 2020.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp are well known to be admirers of Liverpool, but it remains to be seen whether the club will make a move for the midfielder in the summer. The likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have also been linked with competing for the signature of Bellingham alongside Liverpool.

Dortmund are preparing to face Chelsea in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday night. Terzic was once again asked about the future of Bellingham, and believes that remaining at Dortmund is the “perfect step for him”.

“Look, with all the respect for Jude and his performance, we have been answering this question since he joined,” Terzic told reporters on Monday.

“He chose to join us because he knows this can be the perfect step for him and I think we’ve proven it both ways.

“He’s helping us a lot but I also think that we as a club on that stage are helping him and his career as well.

“We’re really happy and delighted that he is part of our team, he’s one of our leaders at the age of 19, he stepped through to the English national team as a player of BVB and this is something we’re really happy with.

“But we also know we need a good performance from him tomorrow to get to the next stage.

“This is something that is going to be a topic for his future but our future now is that we’re going to face a really good opponent tomorrow in Chelsea FC and so we need him in a good way.”

Former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can was also on pre-match presser duty for Dortmund on Tuesday. The ex-Red was asked about Bellingham, and admitted that it’s “difficult” to know what the right next step is.

“Everyone knows his potential,” said Can. “He’s a world-class talent. It’s difficult to know what’s best for him and that’s something he and his family have to decide.”
