Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: The Washington Redskins are the most injured team in the NFL so far in the 2019 NFL season.
With the news breaking on Wednesday that cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie would be sent to the injured reserve with a leg injury, the Redskins now how 10 players on the IR, with two of them designated to return later this season.
After a roster spot opened up with DRC being sent to the IR, the Redskins signed linebacker Noah Spence, who was formerly with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The move was made in order to help bolster Washington’s pass-rush, which has been lacking in the first two weeks of the season.
The IR is loaded with players, and there are several more who have been held out — Jordan Reed, Jonathan Allen, Fabian Moreau, Quinton Dunbar — with hopes that they will return soon. Those players are expected to return as soon as this week, but if the IR list is any indication of things to come, it could be another long season in Washington.
