Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam touted the fact that the government has devised more than 450 laws over the past 4.5 years.
Mr Wissanu pointed it out at a seminar discussing the preparation to push a new bill to assess the performance of the government, which he said is likely to be published in the Royal Gazette in May.
"The bill is one of 456 laws that the current administration has proposed," said Mr Wissanu, who added that the bill is designed to facilitate national reforms.
"Within the next four or five years, possibly more than 1,000 obsolete laws would be revoked, in the same way that South Korea did away with its outdated laws," he said.
Mr Wissanu said that since the bill is likely to come into effect in either November or December, there is still plenty of time to prepare.
"I have talked with some politicians who I won't name, and they told me that if they become the opposition, they would use the legislation as a tool against the government," Mr Wissanu said.
If they assume power, however, they will seek to amend it to prevent it from being abused, he said.
