Wishaw teenager must pay compensation to schoolgirl after throwing glass

A Wishaw teenager must pay a schoolgirl £600 compensation after throwing a glass which hit her on the head.

Denholm Fairley, of Galloway Avenue, Coltness, was also placed under supervision for eight months at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week and ordered to do 130 hours of unpaid work.

The 18-year-old admitted culpable and reckless conduct which caused the girl severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

The court heard the incident happened in Fairley’s home on July 1 last year.

He threw a glass towards a group of people and it smashed as it struck the unlucky 15-year-old.

A charge that Fairley behaved in a threatening manner was dropped by prosecutors.
