Vision Taekwondo were left blown away after their team achieved big success at the Horizon Championship.
The Wishaw-based club travelled south for the event where many of their competitors won medals at their first event of 2022.
They now look forward to events abroad later this year, and Vision will also host their own event in the Spring at Wishaw Sports centre.
Coach Craig Eden was delighted with his youngster’s achievements, having only been in training for four weeks this year: “We had nine competing and we won six gold.
“That is really good. I think performance-wise, everyone was excellent on the day. It’s hard to say (how many medals he expected) as you are always hoping to win.
“It’s hard to say as we try and focus on performance rather than the results. We did expect to win medals but six golds from nine is obviously a good return.
“This was our first event of the year. We started back on the sixth of January but that’s the same as the other clubs. We have managed to prepare for this in four weeks so it was really good.
“We are running our own event in Wishaw in March and that will be our next event in the UK. Then we have a few where we will be heading abroad.
“A trip to Austria got cancelled last year, so we are hoping to go to the Belgian, Swedish and Spanish Opens.”
Vision’s whole list of competitors and winners included; Lee Horswell, gold (junior under 55kg), Jordan Horswell, gold (junior under 48kg), Sophia Bett, gold (children under 36kg), Siobhan Coe, gold (cadets under 44kg), Kaila Sloan,gold (cadets under 59kg), Rachel Cringles, gold (senior under 49kg), Brooke Russell, silver (children under 24kg), Ava Bett, bronze (junior under 55kg), Kirsty Marshall, quarter final (senior under 67kg).
