A Wishaw social club stalwart has been thanked for his many years of dedication.
John Todd recently retired as secretary and committee member of the Cambusnethan Miners Club.
On Friday, July 2, a presentation was made to thank John for all his input to the club over the years.
Ian Borthwick presented John with an engraved silver plated half hunter pocket watch and a framed life membership certificate for the club.
John has held the post of secretary for over 25 years.
Club president Jim Ballantyne told Lanarkshire Live : “It was a surprise for John.
"Unfortunately we couldn’t organise anything substantial, but we managed to make a presentation to him.
“I think he was quite touched by the gesture. He didn’t have a clue.
“Anyone who has been involved with a club like ours will tell you that the secretary and treasurer are the most important people to keep the club going - for John to do that for 25 years shows his level of dedication.”
It is not the end of John’s involvement as he intends to attend as usual and has been kind enough to retain the position of honorary secretary where his knowledge of the 'Camby Club' will be invaluable to the new club secretary and the committee.
Jim added: “We are a charitable organisation and raise money that goes to a variety of good causes such as Help For Heroes or the Erskine Appeal.
“John has had a lot to do with that. I have been on the committee for 15 years and John has been one of the go to people.
“I think he has done more favours for people than he will ever get back, he’s just a smashing bloke.”
