Wishaw schoolgirl's hair-raising experience as she donates long locks to charity

It wasn’t a hair-raising experience for Wishaw schoolgirl Alaiza Masood as she donated some of her locks to charity.

Alaiza had learned all about the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs to children who have lost their hair to cancer treatment, and decided she had to do something to help those less fortunate than herself.

And the 11-year-old, who attends Calderbridge Primary, decided to go for the chop and donate her long locks to the charity with a little help from the staff at Millennium Hair in Stewarton Street.

Alaiza’s proud mum Saheeda said: “We raised £767 which is a tremendous amount for the charity.

“I’m really proud. Alaiza was on YouTube searching princess stuff when she came across the charity and was really inspired by it.

“She started growing her hair to donate and has had a whopping 53 centimetres cut off. She was really chuffed on the day.

“I also have to thank Pamela and all the staff at Millennium who offered their services free of charge.”
