Wishaw's Commercial Hotel & Bar and Live Lounge nightclub suspends trading amid COVID-19

A popular Wishaw hotel, bar and nightclub will suspend trading as of today amid coronavirus worries.

The Commercial Hotel & Bar and the Live Lounge nightclub have closed up until further notice.

This means that party goers will not be able to visit the nightclub, until such time as it is safe to do so.

The premises are owned and operated by the Manorview group, who posted a statement on Facebook last night.

They said: "To All Our Customers, Supporters and Friends

"It is with great regret that we have made the decision to suspend trading as from 12noon on March, 18.

"We are uncertain when we will be in a position to reopen and trade as normal."

The statement goes on to say that this is due to ongoing health concerns and that they have to put safety first.

They also stated that there will be no staff laid off, and that all staff will receive 50% of their weekly earnings in the weeks they are closed.

They said: "We regret we are having to make this decision, but the safety and welfare of people is paramount.

We are living in unprecedented times."

This news comes as the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Scotland grew to 195 confirmed cases, with two sadly passing away.

There are currently 21 confirmed in Lanarkshire.
