Wishaw Pub of the Year winner reflects on business since its major win

A Wishaw pub that took home the most recent Pub of The Year crown has reflected on its big win three years ago.

And Derek Wyse and Tracey Broadfoot have also told us about the impact COVID has had on their business since then.

Corrigan’s took home the Wishaw Press Pub of the Year back in 2019 having beaten the Electric Bar in Motherwell into second place.

Of course the world was very different three years ago and due to the pandemic no award was held in 2020 or last year.

However, the competition is back this year and this year it is Lanarkshire-wide.

A brother and sister duo, Derek and Tracey have run Corrigan’s Bar and Grill for the last nine years, building a strong reputation for serving excellent pints, food and patter in equal measure.

Derek told Lanarkshire Live : “It’s been a hard few years, that's for sure.

“I don’t think we could have imagined what was in store for all of us.

“We still have the Pub of The Year plaque up and it’s a great source of pride for us.

“We have a lot of loyal customers who voted for us and I’m sure it will be the same again.

“Hopefully all restrictions will be lifted soon and we will back to some kind of normality.

“During the lockdown a lot of our regulars really missed being out and seeing their friends, so we are glad to have them back.”

We are launching our Pub of The Year campaign to find the best boozer in Lanarkshire! And we need your help.

We are asking you to nominate your favourite local and tell us why you love it so much.

Once we have our nominations, we will set about secretly scoring the top 10 pubs put forward by punters.

It will then come back to you, our readers, to vote for the pub you think should be crowned Lanarkshire Live Pub of The Year 2021/22.

To enter your favourite inn simply tell us the name of the pub and why it should win in 100 words or less.

You can enter by heading filling in the form below, and share the news by pointing friends and family to the free-to-download Lanarkshire Live app.

And if you’re a landlord or landlady then here is your chance to pull a favour from your customers instead of pulling them a pint.

Get them to put you forward and make sure you are sharing your efforts to win the title on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
