Wishaw parents urged to get applying for early learning and childcare placements

Applications for an early learning and childcare placement in North Lanarkshire are now available.

Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) free entitlement will almost double to 1140 hours per year from August 2020.

Councillor Frank McNally, education convener, said: “The extra hours will be available to all children aged three years, to those who have not yet started primary school, as well as eligible two-year-olds.

“This offers more flexibility for families and extended opportunities for children to play and learn both indoors and out.”

Application forms and guidance notes are available from any local authority nursery or funded provider for the council.

The forms should be returned to the provider selected as your first choice. When applying for a split placement, an application should be submitted to both providers.

The deadline for applications is March 13, 2020 and letters notifying parents/carers of ELC placement decisions will be issued in May 2020.
