Wishaw parents urged to get applications for nursery placements in before deadline

Parents and carers of young children in Wishaw need to have their applications for an early learning and childcare (ELC) placement submitted by Friday, February 12.

Children will normally attend an ELC establishment closest to their home, but parents/carers can apply to any establishment depending on their needs.

Applications should be returned to the first choice of ELC provider.

A total of 1,140 hours of free childcare are available to all children aged three to five years old, as well as some two-year-olds.

The focus is on flexibility for families, as well as an emphasis on quality and a strong connection with outdoor learning and learning through play.

A child’s free entitlement can start depending on when their birthday is.

The funding dates for 2021/2022 are as follows: children who reach three years of age between March 1 and August 12 can take up their ELC placement from August.

Children reaching three between August 13 and February 28 can take up their ELC placement the day after the child’s third birthday.

Parents/carers of children applying to North Lanarkshire Council from another local authority should be guided by the Cross Boundary Protocol.
