Wishaw mum's body brought home after she passes away while mourning son's death in London

A Wishaw family have managed to get their much loved mum back home after she passed away while mourning the death of her son in London.

May Connor had travelled south on February 28 to help support four of her grandchildren after the sudden death of her 54-year-old son Kevin.

But the 79-year-old took unwell within days and was admitted to hospital where medics discovered a blood clot in her leg before operating to insert a stent.

She was forced to miss her son's funeral on April 8 due to her ill health and soon began to deteriorate at St Thomas' Hospital in Lambeth, Lanarkshire Live reports.

On April 22, she tragically died on the 28th anniversary of her late husband Jimmy's death and what would have been Kevin's 55th birthday.

Last week Lanarkshire Live reported how the family had been trying in vain to bring May home, with a fundraiser set up to help.

And this week, staff from Wishaw funeral directors McAllister's made the long trip south to bring her north of the border to be put to rest.

May's daughter Jacqui this week thanked McAllister's for their help in getting her mum back to Scotland.

She told Lanarkshire Live: "McAllister's had people come to London to bring my mum back home. Myself and my brother Paddy followed behind her just as we said we would.

"We always said we would get mum home. It's not the way we wanted but she's home."

The GoFundMe page was set up by Jacqui and daughter Leighann's friend Jacqueline Crawford, with over £2400 raised to help the family in their hour of need.

The page was set up by Jacqui and daughter Leighann's friend Jacqueline Crawford to help pay for May's body to be returned to Wishaw.
